Using the tag-line "
Everyone has to learn to drink somewhere", Sally Longs in Abbeygate Street Upper has a ye-olde stone exterior. In
October 2025 (shown above), this is complemented by a Rock Legends mural on the
gable end (not shown here), an Abbey Road / Beatles pedestrian-crossing image on
the inner door, and a stylized painting of English musician,
singer/songwriter, and founder, front-man, and bassist for the heavy metal band
Motörhead Lemmy Kilmister - warning people to (mis?)behave.
This building-as-an-canvas is paired with a jukebox packed with metal,
rock, alternative, punk, and everything in-between, and customers from all works
of life who lean towards the winder side. A night-time photo really gives
the right vibe.
The picture below was taken in July 2021, when the trim was still bright , and
Lenny wasn't quite ready. At first, it looks altogether lighter -
and then until you spot the motorcycle on display inside through the left-hand
window.
