General store, Oranmore

As cities grow, villages on the outskirts get swallowed up and traditional small businesses, like General Stores, are either overtaken by Mr Price / Dealz / Home Savers etc,  or are upgraded into specialist businesses.   This cheery shop in Oranmore, just outside Galway city, resisted for a long time.  Even in November 2019, it was still a prouc GENERAL STORE - with a sign in the window saying "if we haven't got it, we'll get it", and broomsticks and birdfeeders displayed outside.   However now (November 2025 as I write this) Google tells me that it eventually buckled and became "Oran Decor and DIY".
