False Creek - a residential waterfront in Vancouver, BC.

 

A waterfront scene from Vancouver, Canada in June 2007, of an area known as False Creek:  It's actually a short inlet which confused an early hydrographic surveyor.  Despite looking office-ish, the building at the front-left ("1000 Beach") is full of fancy apartments.

I have NO ide what this is - but even so I took a quick-pic in 2017.  I think at Galway Harbour, when an Irish Navy ship held an open day.

View from the Cook Strait ferry, leaving Wellington in June 2007.  There aren't many cities which have a great big cake tin plonked down in the middle of their dockland.

A ferry - for bicycles and pedestirans

These super-cute pontoon-style open-air, passenger and bicycle ferries ran along with classic water taxis in False Creek, Vancouver, designed to accommodate cyclists and pedestrians crossing the inlet.  Phtoographed in June 2007 - I'm not sure that I was brave enough to get on board.   But the pics of what amounts to a water-bus-stop in a wealthy marina are interesting.
